A Round of Applesauce

Dear Bibliophile, is a weekly blog that is published (mostly, but not exclusively) by SARA’s Secretary Hannah Davis. The blog will include announcements related to SARA’s goings-on in the community, education resources, childhood development information and community resources. Interested readers are welcome to write in with questions or letters to SARA by emailing [email protected]. Some blog posts may serve as responses to these letters. Book recommendations are also not excluded. Reading this blog could make a love of literature closer than it appears.

Dear Bibliophile,

A new study conducted in GottaRadClosely Journal has revealed that 80% of people often don’t spend enough time reading closely.

Did you catch that?

Of course you did, because you are just the kind of people that we at the Southern Association of Reading Advancement (SARA) want to connect with.

You care about reading and we care about making sure that everyone cares about the impact reading can make. And we start early!

No, no, that’s not right.

No, no that’s not right either. We mean we start young! And I guess that is our first lesson in how much words matter. We know this and you know this, but sometimes it is worth a refresher. That’s where you come in.

On March 29th, in partnership with Winchester’s Let’s Make a Note, SARA will be hosting a community roundtable event where we are hoping to gather community members, literacy advocates, parents, educators and lifelong learners alike to share what matters the most to them about the educational environment we are building. SARA wants you to share what resources our community does offer and understand better where we at SARA can help to fill in the gaps.

Do you have suggestions on IEP advocacy? Requests for early learning center skills? Do you want to see more hands-on learning and less testing in the early learning space? Are you an educator who would like to lend their expertise to our organization’s development? Are you a homeschool parent struggling to find resources for your children? Do you want to learn more about what SARA is hoping to accomplish with the community’s help? Do you simply care about the future of children’s education in your community?

Then put on your advocacy pants and come to our community roundtable event! You do not need to be a public speaker or a licensed professional to have worthwhile suggestions for how we can improve children’s learning experiences.

We know words matter, and that’s why we specifically want to hear yours

Where is the event?

Let’s Make a Note

106 N High St, Winchester, TN 37398

When is it?

Saturday, March 29th @ 5PM

Who is invited?

Anyone interested in offering their perspective and influencing our upcoming programs and resources for our families, children and educators. SARA will introduce its members and its mission, allow invited experts in the area the chance to speak on existing resources, then move to an open opportunity for the community (that means you) to share your thoughts on what we can contribute to community literacy resources!

We hope to see you there! No reading ahead required.

Sincerely,

SARA
