A strong beginning, right here in Winchester

The SARA Early Learning Center brings literacy-focused preschool to families in Franklin County and surrounding communities. At 1033 S. College St, Winchester, we combine early reading, purposeful play and caring relationships that encourage kindness, character and connection.

From our first learners to a growing community

Our preschool began with a small pilot in August 2025 and moved into licensed operation later that year. Today, our focus is the everyday work of helping children explore, communicate and build confidence. Our summer literacy program adds another way for families to learn with SARA; it will return in 2027.

What learning looks like at SARA

• Letters, language and stories: phonics, vocabulary, shared reading and activities that connect words with meaning.
• Hands-on discovery: creative projects, movement, gardening and playful exploration.
• Communication and connection: foundational sign language, music and opportunities to practice social skills.
• A thoughtful curriculum: Brightwheel’s Experience Curriculum alongside SARA’s literacy-first approach and Tennessee early learning standards.

Our classroom connects with the world

Recent activities have included a classroom garden, exploring new traditions through music and creative projects, and a July 2026 visit from the Winchester Fire Department to learn about fire safety. These experiences give children things to notice, questions to ask and new words to use.
